Story of the Ministry's Founding
A year after receiving my undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy Assistance in 2000, I got diagnosed with complex partial seizures, major depression, and generalized anxiety disorder. Despite living with active seizures for about seven years was a cakewalk compared to living with my depression and anxiety disorder. Most days, I was paralyzed with despair and could not get anything productive done. Eventually, I had brain surgery to address my seizures in March of 2007. However, the depression and anxiety disorders mentally disabled me. Then, I got diagnosed with ADHD. However, it was my state of despair that got the best of me. I could properly function in life. I began to empathize with other folks dealing with difficult emotion. Talking yourself out of such dark emotion is easier said than done. I knew that I couldn’t be the only dealing with such an intense emotion. I decided to let other folks battling with despair know that there are not the only one dealing with it. That’s why I decided to develop “Empathy and Hope Rising” YouTube channel. It’s a digital sanctuary for restoration. Together, we restore what despair tried to steal.
